The Traveler

The Traveler

Materials: cast bronze, polished face, patina

"The Traveler" is a cast bronze sculpture inspired by the Cycladic art form of c.3300 to 2300 BCE and the figurative sculptural art form of Constantin Brancusi from the early 20th century. The face has been polished to reflect the smoothly sculpted Cycladic figures, while a patina was applied to the remainder of the sculpture as is common in more modern bronzes. The title of the work alludes to the geographical and temporal distances between the two art forms.
